    eurovox on virgin

hi guys this is all new to me so dont be too hard on me .
thinking of getting a eurovox ex 1000 or ex 5100, any rcommendations?, also i have virgin broadband connected which i think is all i need. is it a case of just connecting from splitter to router and other to eurovox and all will work? or do i have to put on some software to get all channels?
    thanks guys and girls.

Read the sticky on flashing a eurovox. The 1000 isnt a recorder but the 1100 is.

Hi m8, both the 1000 and the 5100 are decent boxes with working softwa*e. The only thing you need to be aware of is, make sure you dont buy a clone!
Just use a decent splitter to split the signal and you can have both TV and BB.
You will need to install softwa*e on the box as new boxes will normally be supplied with FTA softwa*e. The softwa*e is available for free in the downloads section and also instructions on how to do it.

a new box needs flashing m8 read here---> Eurovox pay attention to the red stickies, buying a new box now is risky because vm are rolling out a new encryption called nagravision3, it has started in leeds they are losing channels eventualy all channels will be gone. if all goes well vm will roll it out over all the country so all boxes will be knackered, this new encryption is unlikely to be cracked, so if u get a new box u might only get a few months out of it, its up to u m8.

p.s i think the ex1000 has been discontinued so u might struggle to get that box.

So you reckon there will be no fix for it?

no m8, but u never know, another option is cardshare if u got a vm box( cant talk bout it on here google it ) but thats a lot more complicated. it could be 6 months before nag3 gets to your area, who knows where they will go next. the only way u will know when its coming is when a new vm cards comes through the door, but u aint got a tv sub so u will have to ask friends who have a tv sub to tell u when they get their new tv card

Since these boxes only work with Virgin Media he wont be able to use one, unless of course he takes out a subscription to cable ....
