    1100USB Freezing Issue

Does anyone know how to stop the channels from freezing on this box?

The problem occurs several times a day (at random times) and I end up having to unplug the box from the mains after several reboots. I have also tried rescanning, reflashing and have also changed the TV system settings (changing the output to RGB seemed to work for a couple of days but problem returned).

This only seems to happen on pay channels, if I switch to BBC, ITV, CH4 etc everything is ok.

I appreciate it if anyone can shed any light on this.

If it's as bad as you say I would contact the supplier, out of curiosity did you put in any of the cabling yourself? If so what cable did you use any splitters etc. If not should work fine on that signal.

Trying the purple light fix was gonna be my next step Alex but I dont have the null modem cable or USB to RS232 cable either yet (a trip to maplin methinks).

Portbhoy, the cable was installed by my uncle, see the link for the cable I bought (25m Satellite Cable Kit : Home Entertainment : Maplin). As the broadband was installed in the dining room and is a fair distance from the TV in the living room, I had to use a length of around 18m from the splitter to the box.

I guess the length/quality of cable maybe to blame, I am borrowing my uncle's box tomorrow to test, I will let you know how it goes.

just try your box from the main feed coming in, if ok you know its the cable.

18 meters is a fair run mate my last box is at the end of a 15 meter run and it needs a booster but the cable looks fine

Seems it is the box with the problem guys

I'm using my uncle's EX1000 and had no problems whatsoever, he took my 1100 back to his earlier to try... he just called and it froze 3 times in 5 mins, he is using the box connected to the main feed, no splitters, no lengthy cabling.

I have yet to try the purple light fix so once I get round to trying it i'll post another update.

Finally got my box back of my uncle today, tried the purple light fix. I followed the instructions but no success, tried to connect to com1 but got 'cannot connect serial port' message.

have you tried changing the tv settings on the box, i used to get bad picture on some none fta channels but after i changed the tv settings to PAL. AUTO and RGB on the box, that sorted the problem, worth a try

Tried that a week or two ago, was ok for a few days before the freezing returned. I have noticed on several occasions it does not freeze any time after 10pm(ish).

Since getting the box back this afternoon it froze twice in a 5 min period after half an hour of being switched on. As I have stated, the purple light fix failed but since I tried it (about 5pm) no freezing has occurred.

Edit: Since posting this, the box has continued freezing randomly *sigh*, so i'm just getting round it by unplugging it from the mains and plugging it back in
