Best usb to serial cable help

I've tried 2 different cables (usb to serial) and still cannot get the darn things to work.
I've tried both Vista and xp Computers, tried all the comm settings and still the new update says "waiting blah blah blah".
    Blue box by the way.
I even asked my Gran if she new anything about it (she put her teeth in and said "NO").
Anyone recomend the best usb to serial cable please.

You could Try a Serial to USB adapter, with your USB lead from PC to adapter.

sometimes ure av and Firewall settings can affect u penetrating the box, so switch them and have a crack. I had a similar problem but at the stage of com port selection, and it was a vista driver issue on the prolific usb to serial converter, with a female to female 9 pin null modem cable ...did a euorvox V and a eurovox max in secs after spending a night banging my head against the wall.

PS Read Sats post on the home page ref cable guides for flashing eurovox, its tremendous

Use a multimeter or cable tester and check against this site.
The optimum best cable is the last one on this guide described
as 9 pin null modem cable "with full handshaking"

              RS232 serial cable pinout information

                  Vista.
I have downloaded the latest drivers for this but all to no avail, time to go see my bro in law with his old pc (he got the 9 pin port for the cable).

                    P.S

It finds the box and then starts to send, but hangs at 0%
I've tried all the com ports and nada. still hangs at 0%
