help on cable remote needed.

Hi, It's for the in laws really. They have just purchased a new telly. a philps 26pfl5403d but when they come to use the remote for a sammy 2100c box it activates some of the tv menus as well as the cable menues. Any ideas as to how i can stop the remote working the telly. I was given a reset code of 000 to try.. this did not work. It's the blue remote that comes with these digi boxes.
