    Nova fight back against cs/piracy

Νova proceeds in upgrading of its cards. All the cards with version Kappa, Zeta and Epsilon, will be upgraded in order that these cards are ready for the change of encryption that will take place within 2010.
All old cards with version 2, 4 and 5 will be replaced during the coming months with new upgraded cards in the attempt of the platform for piracy crack-down. The first shipment of 10000 cards to subscribers has already begun with instructions to change the card by SMS via mobile phones. The notice states that the old cards will stop working within 3 days which has not happened yet, however. When all the old cards will be replaced and the remaining upgraded, n*v@ will replace the current encryption to new, more advanced system of IRDETO as happened with several other providers using the same system. (Showtime Art, etc.).The problems are expected to be many with subscribers who do not use the platform's proprietary receivers (panasat). Estimates raise up to 30 to 40% the subscribers that do not use the panasat receiver, due to its limited capabilities. The upgrade of the cards cannot usually occur in non-panasat receivers, even receivers with old and new IRDETO module (blue & purple) or a receiver with UCAS (universal card access system) card readers. The latter subscribers of course, should not complain because their receiver is not officially compatible with the system (regardless of the fact that their cards have been working properly for years). If they will do the upgrade of the card by using panasat, the card will stop working with their non-panasat receiver.
The platform urges its subscribers to acquire panasat receiver with only 25 euros fee and make the upgrade inside the official nova shops. This will make the card compatible only with that specific receiver and no other (Coupling of card and the receiver).
