My daughter has just got somes braces fitted to her teeth, and she's a bit self concious about them.
"I hate them, Dad!" she sniffed, "They make me look weird."
"Don't be ridiculous, darling," I replied, "Of course they don't."
"Really?" she said, almost breaking into a smile.
"Really," I replied, "It's your wonky eyes and massive nose that do that."
