Another 10% on gas + elecy !!!!

Shortly to be introduced , yet another 10% hike in fuel prices, which is estimated will put 6.5 million people into fuel poverty , where's it all going to end ?, why don't the government step in to control the greedy power suppliers , as in France and Germany ?.
Mostly elderly folk where i live and they simply can't afford to heat their homes any longer .

My last house had a coal fire.
I used to save junk mail all year till i had enough to fill a bucket when shredded, then add water and used a brick press to form bricks of pulp, leave them out in the tility room to dry over the warmer months and then BAM! free heat in the winter

Cant be too good for the environment but if its between me freezing to death or me melting the entire Antarctic single-handedly then the polar bears are up shit creek

You can get cheap brick presses on fleabay but try and get one with rounded or rubberised handles cause the straight metal jobs are frankly a nightmare if your doing bulk

How can they justify this hike, when wholesale fuel prices are dropping?

With this and the price of petrol, this country is becoming a joke. We pay nearly ?1 tax on petrol!!

well we got to find the ?4.2bn thats about to be paid by the uk towards the bail oot of portugal, from somewhere

Govt should do there bit as well; fighting three wars and we have to suffer about time they should be fighting with stones to save money.

we are nothing more than cash cows to them ~~~~ers. the irish government brought in a regulator to control the ESB a few years ago, the net result being that we ended up going from having some of the cheapest electricity in europe to being one of the most expensive. All to create a false market for other companies to "compete". (when i tried changing to one of the other companies i was refused cause i wouldnt let them have access to my bank account to pay the bill.) governments makes me sick. rant over, im off to buy candles..........

I can see goverment intervention really working in france and germany. France has approximately the same price as UK, Germany is 50% higher.
