    is it middlesborough or middlesbrough?

For 40 years I have believed the spelling of Boro was Middlesborough. The more I look on web, the more I find spellings of Middlesbrough. Which is right?
    Smoggy... your opinion m8?

Another one often misspelled round here is Teesside, often get Teeside instead and thats from people who live around here.

It's not just our neck of the woods that's seeing this change to the dumber than dumb morons that populate our towns.

Recently watched a movie called Idiocracy, it's an amazing insight to where we are heading.

Education standards need to be toughened up, kids can't be allowed to take the easy route & must be forced to actually use their brains like we had to.

all covered by one word... inbreeding? But i digress, this was ( Middlesborough ) spelling when all areas were part of north yorkshire, since called teesside or is it cleveland..? boro spelt alternate way, i don't like those boundary changes to be honest.

Cleveland still exists as far as the post office are concerned.

The problems occurred when Cleveland County Council was disbanded & replaced with town run councils. At which point 'Cleveland' no longer existed as a county.

Strictly speaking is was dissolved back into Durham & North Yorkshire. But Teesside has been used by locals as a way to keep hold of some regional identity. That & the postcodes are all still TS based (Teesside).

There may be some inbreeding still going on, restricted to the council estates. But there's a lot less than what goes on in Hartlepool

I thought Middlesbrough has been spelt this way since 1863?

I am a dumb ass at times...
I was born and bred up in Guisbrorough, North Yorkshire and the surrounding villages. In my school days, I had trouble remembering the spellings of Middlesbrough and Guisborough. And thought I had come up with the perfect solution with Boro footie team with the 'O' in it... but I had it twisted around, Guisborough WITH the 'O' Middlebrough without.

Now 40 years later I finally have it sussed...
