    professional photographers

any of the above on here?

i cant help thinking that i have just been severely ripped off!!!!!

missus took the kids into a well known high street shop/chemist where a professional photographer took some pictures of the kids in various diffrent poses.

we decided on two poses that we liked and bought two packages. (you cant buy single photo's, have to buy the bundle. cost for both packages 50quid

now this is what i got in each package.

    1. 25cm by 20cm photo, this is the large photo
    2. another 25cm by 20cm photo which is split into 6 photos, half the paper is the medium photo and the other half split into 4 , this is the small photo's

so each pack contains 2 sheets of 25 by 20 photopaper with pictures on.

in other words, i paid 50quid for FOUR sheets of photo paper....

now the missus says the sitting took approx 10minutes and i imagine he takes his memory card or whatever out his camera and the computer prints out the photos in no time at all....

am i right in thinking i've been ripped off here???????

no offence to any photographers out there, but i cant see the justification for such high prices......

Seems about right for high street prices. If you want studio sitting, expect to pay around ?100 for a 30 minute sitting and a couple of small photos.

The price isn't too bad. Take into consideration the overheads of the photographer. Rent, rates, camera, insurance etc etc. His overheads could be a few hundred pounds per day depending on where he is located and he may only get half a dozen sittings per day.

well the thing is, its a travelling photographer, aint got a dedicated shop....
the sittings took ten minutes, i reckon he would get quite a few in a day.....
        overheads i'm not sure about....

i still think he could have provided more prints for the money,
it doesnt cost much to print photo's.
with digital cameras and computers i reckon price per print would be minimal.
and that is the point, i wouldn't mind paying top dollar if i thought i was getting value for money.

but 2 photo's, printed in diffrent sizes on 2 25cm by 20cm photo paper is quite poor for 50quid.....

Got a mate who is a professional photographer and its very difficult to make a living at it. I suspect that it visits once a month at most at that location. Most days there is no work going on.

And its not just rent and equipment that he is charging for. If anybody could take good quality photos then everyone would be doing it. There is a certain amount of skill involved and you are also paying for that.

Was he up front with you about what you would be getting for your money ?

its difficult to say m8, it was the missus who organised it all.

ive seen the flyer, its a big photo company that travels round high street shops , supermarkets etc....

there are no prices on the flyer, but looking at it i wouldnt expect a huge bill at the end of it , if you know what i mean, i dont want to name the company incase i get into trouble.

if we had took all the photo's they wanted, it would have cost over 200 ~~~~in quid.....

like i say the quality was poor for what we paid, i dont mean the actual photo quality, but more the packages in general.
for instance, the smaller photo's, you would hacve they would have cut them to size using a lathe or summmit instead of leaving them for the missus to cut out with a pair of scissors... that sort of the thing...

If it is a big photo company then most likely they are setting the price and he gets paid a percentage.

Even things like school photos cost 15 to 20 quid for a couple of photos these days.

                    there more than that m8,
we paid ?73 for the lads school photo's not so long ago.

but the packages where far better, bigger photo's and put in little cardboard frames...

they were nicley presented and lot better value for money i thought.....
