LCD or Plasma

Plasma if you're single, LCD if you have a family.
Plasmas need to be watched head on because of the depth, if you watch a plasma from the side you see ghosting because of the depth/projection.
I am single, have a plasma, watch it head on, and its as if you could step into the tv, its amazing. LCD's seem pretty flat, but if you have a sat down family watching from all angles they are spot on.Comment

I think were missing a few things. Also maybe someone should start a poll.
I have a 42" LCD in front room. Run perfect, the pc runs fine on it, the xbox and ps3 ect. If you go up close on it, its bad pixelation.
Now my m8 has a 50" Plasma and he suffers from burn with it. From everything.
I think its down to what you want it for and the size of the room its gonna be in.sigpic

Had several plasmas over the years and Just bought replacment panasonic 50inch one about 1.5 years ago, works amazing with HD sources, crap with ordinary SD freeview and crap with SD freesat but great with HD freesat which is built in, it was pretty expensive to buy though.
On the other hand I have just bought a cracker of an 42 inch LCD with edge LED and that is amazing, no picture blurr on fast moving objects or nothing, very very nice bright picture etc.
From now on I will buy FULL LED (not LCD with edge LED) there is a difference which you will need to read into, mainly the quality and the price too, but this LCD with edge LED is excellent, so for me from now on it will not be anymore plasmas, no way, plus the amount of electricity they use is just rediculous unlike the FULL LED or LCD with edge LED.
For me mate If I was you I would spend some decent cash on a great brand and buy a FULL LED tv and forget the plasma, but its up to you.Comment

Never had this problem with my Panny, so I did a bit of Googling.
You seem to be mistaken. Plasmas have the best viewing angle, followed by LEDs. LCDs have the worst viewing angle. He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

Plasma's nowdays mate dont get screenburn and if they do you simple run a pure black or pure white screen for half an hour or so and it takes the screenburn away, most disadvantage of a plasma I find is the huge amount of electricity they use, but as a tv if you buy a good one they are good.
I personally would buy what they call a "full LED" tv (not edge LED), edge LED is basically and LCD with some edge LED's round the side of the rear of the screen, it is great but not just as good as FULL LED, but as you will notice full LED's are much more expensive.
Thats my 2p's worth anyway mate.
basically they all give great performance if you buy a decent brand at a medium price, but always keep in mind that the plasmas are much more expensive to run on electricty, thats a big downside ! that is more to worry about than screenburn,
.
p.s
and dont waste your money on a bargain basement purchase, save up for another month or two or however long it takes to gather more cash and buy something that is half decent, its true that old saying "you only gets what you pay for" and that is 100% true with these types of tv's, trust me.Last edited by Saltire; 28 July, 2011, 22:32.Comment

or ring one of them coin-op tv services. pick the telly you want then, after they've delivered it, remove the coin metre and just not answer the door when they come to empty it.
there is a 10 quid charge for delivery. this is annoying but at least you get a telly out of it.
yes. this is how i got my telly.
haha... ~~~~ you, coin-op tvLast edited by RedSpider; 29 July, 2011, 20:05.Comment
