Through the years ive given my fair share to charity though my running but recently ive noticed a glut of advertising for my dosh in the mainsream media and now elsewhere. On saturday i went for a p**s and there was a begging ad with starving kids staring back at me while i urinated. We have starving kids and animals 24/7 on all tv channels whats happening here is this right.

A while back i decided i would only give to UK charites, there are plenty of causes in this country to donate to. I happen to have chosen a specific cancer charity that is very close to my heart but do help others.
I can't stand the constant procession of bags coming through my letterbox asking for my unwanted items.Comment

thankfully my local council have woken up to these chuggers,
there now only allowed in certain parts of the city center 2 days a week,
and the second hand clothes scam is getting just as bad now, I must get 2 bags a week pushed through my letterbox, there's even a Wikipedia page about it.

I started a while back helping charities, selling tickets for a kids hospital, selling badges for breast cancer and so on, very deserving causes. Then I started getting calls from every other charity in the country wanting me to help them out too. Now, this is why I got pissed off with them all, you help one and it seems they pass your number round to all other charities, and the pestering phone calls start, so I told them all to ~~~~ off on the phone. And the coonts in the street can ~~~~ off an all. That's how much they've annoyed me. If I want to give to a charity now, I'll choose who it's gonna be, not somebody else.sigpicComment

I always give when i can, happy to stick me change in the tin on a counter etc... BUT since WHEN did the charities have a right to demand so much per month as an ongoing concern? coonts stopping me and telling me to set up a direct debitFave replies from various threads
1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate
2: no info on google abt the pace sv5 rang asda they have no idea what i was talking about,
3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

That's the problem with these charity co-ordinators they are never happy. Whatever you give they always come back and want more.
Some of the events they run, like say a bungee jump for eg they wont let you enter unless you pay a fee AND have a minimum amount of sponsorship money as dictated by the charity.
THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white.The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.Comment

The parachute jump I did years ago, for the blind, I had to have a min of 600euro to jump, there were at least 20 of us jumping that day. But I wouldn't imagine the instructors got too much out of that 600. Not one rep from the charity showed up to say, thank's or kiss me arse or well done lads. You don't want anything for it, but ffs we jumped out of a plane, a thank you would av been nice.sigpicComment

It looks to me like these charities have scored an own goal- i will never give to them if they beg or ask me. I will continue to donate to good causes but i will be selective about it. I think they need to have a good look at themselves as its clear the public are peeved off at this in yer face, high pressure advertising.Comment

We get people from different charities knocking on doors asking for donations almost all year around. And normally I will give some money to ever charity who knocks.
If you didnt open the door or wernt indoors, they would leave a little envelope for change and collect next time around.
Lately they are all asking for Direct Debit payments now.
Had a couple of old ladies knock on door little while ago, so I took out ?5.00 & they said "no we cant take cash anymore" and handed me a DD form.
Sorry but ~~~~ that!SLOWLY, OUR FREEDOM IS BEING ERASED.
SOON, WE WILL JUST BE A NUMBER.
IF WE DON'T FOLLOW, WE WILL BE ERASED.Comment

~~~~ them all I say, and don't be embarrassed to tell them either. But for everyone of us that say no, you may bet there's ten that will say yes.
Can't take cash !!!!! what a joke.sigpicComment
