    AIDS

Do you remember the big deal that was made about AIDS about
    10 years ago?

How the AIDS virus was spreading like wild fire & how soon the whole world would be infected by this killer disease.

Well what has happened to this disease?
Has a secret cure been made?
Has the disease been killed off?
How come AIDS is never mentioned in the media anymore?
Is it that the drugs companied have made their money?

    Any comments?
SLOWLY, OUR FREEDOM IS BEING ERASED.
SOON, WE WILL JUST BE A NUMBER.
IF WE DON'T FOLLOW, WE WILL BE ERASED.

perhaps it was the famous like rock hudson and freddie mercury that died with it to start with and as most of this country are mad about the celebs it was worth reporting now it is mainly the poor and a lot in africa perhaps the media dont think it is interesting

Are you psychic? I was just thinking the same thought today!!

Its funny how AIDS was going to wipe out the human population, but I do think that education and safer sex practices have reduced the impact of this disease.

Was it made out be worse than it actuallt was? Probably, but I think it was a potentially devastating disease. I do think the pharmaceuticals hyped to make money a bit like SARS etc nowadays.

          Good forum topic there badapple.
Aids was a big problem back then and although I did not personally know of anyone who had it or died from it. it was for a short time somewhat slightly overshadowed by ebola, which, though mostly contained in a few countries, also seems to have disappeared up its own backside.
The hype attached to aids was probably heightened by public fear of the disease and like yourself and masur123 it came up in pub conversation with a mate only a few weeks ago.
The baffling thing about this is that their isn't a worse or bigger threat out there now to have put aids in the dark.
So, badapple, you've posed an interesting question to which I wish I could contribute more.

AIDS is still around, they routinely test pregnant women for it, they just aren't spending the money on advertising like they did when it was first discovered, so people think that it isn't a problem anymore. It is.

i believe they can control it really well now with a cocktail of very expensive drugs.
its not cureable but can be managed to some extent, which is fine in countries like the UK where you can get the drugs on NHS but still a killer in poorer countries.
