What would you do if this happened to you ....

Mrs lagerland works in a school for children with learning difficulties ie adhd and the like that main stream schools cant deal with.Today she had to endure one of the little fcuks spitting in her face.Just wondering what you would do if this happened to you,kid or no kid i would be losing my job because the kids getting weighed in.What are these kids learning at home fortunately mrs LL deals with things differently to me.............

All I can say is whatever Mrs L gets paid, it's not enough! Nobody should be expected to tolerate that kind of behaviour, regardless of any other factors. I guess to a large extent you have to throw the rule book away when it comes to working with people with mental illness, but that's not the case here I think.

unfortunately m8 there's nothing you can do, when you work with, LD or mentally ill you have to accept it may happen, it isn't nice when it does happen, I've had it done to me several times, but by adults, you've just got to count to ten or go and have a fag till you calm down, one time when it happened to me the guy who did it, had Hep C, that was the worst.

there is no point reporting it to the police because they wont do anything, I worked in mental health for many years, I had my collar bone broke, I was stabbed in the leg with a broken CD, and had my eyes blackened 3 times, and the police would not press charges on any occasion, your mrs has my sympathy,
If this kid is on a 1 to 1 she could ask not to work with him again.

MY mate worked in mental health looking after grown men who would stand and shit themselves then rub it over anybody that was passing,or they would sit and bang their heads against the wall untill they knocked themselves out,how he put up with it i dont know because the money wasnt exacly great, hes a school caretaker now like me and we both get a little abuse from time to time,i suppose it comes with the job.If i get any i always make sure they get `done` for it just as a matter of principle, but in the odd case you feel your just wasting your time.Ive often felt like howking one of them but the only outcome of that would be me losing my job,i find a good single malt works wonders on frayed nerves, its either that or find a stairwell that isnt covered by the cameras and toss the little t@@@ down the stairs...

Probably because i live in a bungalow,to be serious though i know how it chews you ,mrs grumbles works in a school as well and gets it from time to time but luckilly the single malt is good for her too.If theres anybody your good lady works with has anything nasty then she should be informed about it beforehand as a matter of health and safety.

The attention deficit kids have usually got away with murder at home before they are foisted on the unfortunate who has to now deal with an overbearing child.
I have had dealings with one such child and when he throws his tantrum I give him the cold shoulder which, he knows, means I will completely ignore him until he apologises.
                            It always works.
Spitting is worse, it is vile, and should be reported under health and safety. But more importantly, it should then be acted upon immediately by the people it is reported to, parent/guardian called and child rebuked properly or removed until a guarantee of non recurrence is in place.

Its just behaviour ... a bit like been a member of a internet forum ... don't take it personal and defiantly don't react by washing his mouth out with shitty water

As i work with adults with mental health needs i do have a fair bit of experience in this area.

More to the point though back when i had more hair on my head and less in my nose , ears and back mrs manx and me used to foster ... at the time i was in the merchant navy working a 2 week on 2 week off rota ... on my 2 weeks off we did respite work looking after youngsters with just these types of behaviour ... working with the parents we set boundaries rewarding good behaviour and punishing bad just as aftermath has said by isolation away from people and whatever the child enjoyed ... i'm sure most of you have heard of the naughty step well we used this to great effect.

The opening post is screaming out to me in big neon letters that the childs parent/s either cant cope with or cant be bothered to manage the childs behavioural issues. And that's
were things need to be done for starters ...

anyway enough of me prattling on ... enjoy the weekend ... i will be
