    strange phone call

at 6.30 pm today i had a call from an Indian sounding person
saying they were microsoft technicians etc: they even knew my name
the caller said they were getting reports of major errors on my computer. and that the error files need removing before they crashed my computer but only authorized Microsoft software would remove these error reports etc. then they wanted me to pay by card on line. for them to load software and said it would leave a blue icon on the task bar to click and get connection to Microsoft tech department if i need further help in the next 12 months. i said no chance i will get pc world to take a look at my computer and rang off, as far as i'm aware Microsoft dont ring and this looks like a scam to me, plus this call lasted over a hour and they did'nt want to take no for a answer so i said i will get it check first and they said we will ring you back on thursday, i bet they dont but if they do i will say no again and i will e-mailed microsoft about the call. just beware if you get this call

unless they've got some special system where they call you and you pay for the call, seen that done before

its honestly the best phone call you will ever have cunny.. and if this magical system whereby you get charged for the call exists, im sure charges can be dropped by your phone company. ~~~~ even if it DID cost you.. its worth it to hear their shite

Microsoft know of this scam already.. It was reported in Computer Shopper magazine a few months ago.. Sadly, I bet theres plenty of people who fall for it though..

I got it today as well, had a fair bit of fun with them. Benny it is so easy for them to get details they only told me my name and postcode which is simples to get. funny thing here is i have just recently picked up my daughters laptop from PC world from repair ( registered in my name) seems to be alot of PC world customers get this call. Nice sideline earner if you can get it !! Anyway after a fair bit of oohh's and ohh my god's haha told them i'm verifying thier number - they said not to because using the internet will spread the malware pmsl told them it was a well known scam and to f*** off give them thier due they phoned me back straight away haha even before i typed in 1477 to report and block the malicious call (talk talk)

I don't think it is an insider in PC World myself as the last thing I bought from them was 2003, I have got this phone call and I keep them on the phone for a while until I get pi$$ed off. I ask them stupid questions like which one of my computers is it on, etc, then when I have wasted enough time, just tell them to "go away", or words to that effect.
they do however convince some people, and that is a shame that there are people out there who don't know that W=Microsoft will never ring you off their own bat.

if you've got their number then pass it on to a type of telemarketer or something else that will continuously hound them
