Should coppers carry guns?

I would say no, as you will probably escalate the amount of criminals that will carry them. Item on the radio said there is an armed response unit within 20 mins of everywhere anyway, but not sure how true that is.

I do think there has to be some with guns, but not every officer.

For a number of reasons the last thing a wanna see is your everyday police with guns, armed response units is fine but all cops is a bad idea.
Special units are highly trained and selective but some of your everyday police are morons, God knows what would happen if you gave them a gun.

Do you know that foreign police forces admire our cops because they don't carry guns- only a tiny minority of crime committed involves firearms so i don't see the need. As for the two coppers that got killed- they would have still been sent to the same job as there was no reason to believe firearms were involved.

No.The majority of our police force are not fit to carry Pens let alone Gun's.Most are just legalised Thug's .Well thats my opinion anyway.

I think they all should carry guns, but some of them fake guns. That way you'd never know who was packing heat and who not.
Maybe then the backward cap wearing youth would have a bit of repek for the coppers, instead of dissing them...init?

Armed officers haven't exactly solved any problems over there, as nearly every bugger carries them and seem to use them like water pistols!
Arming the police isn't the answer, nor is the right for the public to carry firearms.

Come on lads how many police officers have been killed with guns related in the last 50 years I would give you an estimate around 15 officers.

Now compare that with how many people have been killed not even holding a gun in the hand in the last 50 years hundreds, imagine this figure will go up if all police officers carry guns. Most people have been killed holding a piss of wood??armed response units if they are trained for the job why they can not see the different between a gun and a piss of wood.

The difference over here is we DON'T have the 2nd Amendment, The Right to bear arms. So arming the police isn't going to make the criminals suddenly gain a pistol.
The criminals already have guns. Illegal guns. That side will not change with or without arming the police.
