They should lay over far enough down so spade won't get it. So I reckon it's down to virgin, should of laid it deeper and in the protective tube.

Worked as salesman for virgin door knocking. Seen some shocking installs, cable left on surface, or sometimes in the tubing, but some would be sticking out of ground and some below, looked like nessy

It should also be in ducting (its like a green flexi tubing) so ring them and tell them and they will sort this out for free as it has not been riginally installed to the correct spec

minimum 30 inches of cover i think but this applys to roads and footpaths, i dont think there is a legal requirement to do this on private property tho, unless its gas leccy or water, as fibre optic cable posses no threat to peeps if chopped thru with a spade etc, all new builds will be in ducting, old properties like mine the cable is bare in the ground, all you can do is ring them give em some bolox like and see how it goes.

peronaly if they charge you then I would just say something like 'well sky are doing great deals at the moment don't worry about it' bet the charges would get removed then......
