    Crap dr or what

Went to my doctor last Tuesday because I was having a bit of a problem with breathing, just getting short of breath at work, I do a physical job.

Dr looked up my nostrils and said they were blocked, and prescribed some spray to sort the problem.
While there he said he would check my blood pressure, reading 204 should be about 90 upto 115, I did not know this at the time. So he prescribed a weak amount of blood pressure pills, and said book a ECG and blood test at reception. Got booking for end of month,

That night while cleaning my teeth I could not get my breath and got the wife to call an ambulance, which came. At this point blood pressure was 275, so put on oxygen and rushed to hospital and wired up.

Still in hospital now. All due to chest infection, which put strain on my heart, which caused a heart attack.

Should be out in day or so, just get blood pressure steady.

Should doctor have sent me straight to hospital? Should I sue?

I wish you a full recover, doctors nowadays take more patients then they can cop and in order to diagnose every patient on any other day is out of questions if they are committed to see every one.

May as well go straight to hospital then. If the doctors can't give you an answer.

Been talking to others here who were sent to cardiology for less, they were sent straight here, and they have been released within a day, sent here as precaution. Still think crap doctor, first time for me in 6 years at docs, last time was to get sick note after having hernia op.

I will defo change my practice, just been given leaflet by a nurse about who to complain to, so far every nurse says its a joke

wish you well m8 and it is a joke but medical negligence is a hard nut to crack, docs generally shy away from criticising each others diagnosis when the solicitors come knocking and basically close ranks cos it can happen to any of them.

The thing is I would of gone to work the next day, and that would of been going down motorway, just scary if I had the attack then!!!

Will just make a complaint anyway, knob head doctor.

By all means make a complain, it could be that the doctor hasn't been keeping up to date.

What people do seem to forget though, and I'm not saying that you are, is that doctors are human and make mistakes. Some of my mates are doctors, surgeons and consultants and while GP's try their best they are making educated estimates as to peoples ailments. I must admit that they are *very* educated estimates, however they can be wrong. They can't see what's happening inside your internal organs etc, so have to go on the evidence that a) they can see for themselves and b) the information that you give them. So at the end of the day it's not that easy to diagnose exactly what's wrong with someone. Not like a car where you can plug into the odb, run the diagnostic tests and it tells you that you have a problem with the ECU really. Your GP is a general practitioner with no specialist knowledge in every area of the body - that's why they book you tests at hospitals who do have various specialists who carry out specialist training/studies and as such had your GP also been a heart specialist (very few are) then he might have been able to diagnose your problem much better. Thnk of your GP as a service manager in a garage, yes he can hear your engine rattling, but he gives it to a technician (not Meaty ) to carry out the detailed diagnosis and eventual fix

My advice is to concentrate on getting well not what you can get

As gc says doctors are are a hard nut to crack and i have found out myself they all stick by the next, the doctor was following procedure and the procedure is to keep people away from a+e until its needed

If anyone has serious concerns go straight to a+e

Good luck with the recovery btw

Not after any money really, just don't want to have anyone else in this situation.

                    1) Wish you quick repairs

                    2) Nice to see your still able to post on DK from hospital bed - well done

                    3) Like partly mentioned by GastonJ - when you was at the doctors, there was no
fault - so no not really.

                    4) Why sue the bloke - would you want one of your punters sueingg you because
the carpet (whate evr you do was an inch to short?

                    OFF TOPIC:- BUT PARTLY RELEVENT:-

The other month car came in - i knew nothing about the job and without checking it assumed it was the hazard switch at fault from what being described - gets one there only ?10+VAT fits it swaps old switch back DEFFO fault with orginal - sends on way

Car comes back two weeks later, as far as punter concerend 'same fault' this time gets more of a story - decides yes old switch eas genuinly faulty - but must have a second fault - i bent it, shaped it anyway i wanted it, nothing no poping fuse, takes it home that night, hung a left on the handbrake and POP fuse blow - next morning found chaffed loom using a microscope.

You can't mend something that's not broken.

Just be thankfull your not paralised and unable to log onto DK
