i have been suspended with my coleague for gross misconduct.


have to out for a bit but im wondering if this holds weight ie invasion of privicy ect and can i get out of it?

Hummm think they may have got ya, but perhaps you cud convince them you was only doing it for them and they should pay you more for being inventive?

Look on the bright side m8 you've only been suspended.. not sacked,
I bet at this moment all sorts are going through your head like suing them and shit like that,

Best thing to do imo is to leave it sit for awhile, maybe go for a few beers with a mate,
and tomorrow or friday go to your boss and say you made an error of judgement and it wont happen again
Chances are if he's anyway fair you'll be back on full employment in no time
Failing that buy a balaclava and a semi-auto and.......................................

have a good look at your contract of employment and the terms of what will be treated as gross misconduct if doesnt state it there you may have a case at employment tribunal if its not gross misconduct your company would have to put you through the company disciplinary procedure before they could sack you outright. contact acas or your local citizens advice for further information.

thanks for the replies chaps and chappetes but im going to get the sack methinks for sure

guvvy job for anyone who doesnt understand is a bit of extra coin in the old sky rocket for taking a bit extra if you know what i mean

i am being taken for gross misconduct twice and misconduct once

firstly im a binman and my first charge for gross misconduct is for taking a bit of extra rubbish from shops for monetary gain

the second gross misconduct is for taking this waste illegally as it has not went through the correct channels

and thirdly just a misconduct for i swear im not making this up is for pulling a bin when i was doing the guvvy using the incorrect manual handling technique

so tis the end i think we have a few shops on our round where they throw extra or they tip another bin which is not on the books in return we get the odd few quid or a sandwich and a cuppa as reward for our kind nature(no harm really) but apparantly my work decided to hire a private dick to investigate us resulting in this case wh got video evidence

there is another 2 fitters been suspended cos 1 knocked off 1 hour early and the other clocked him out after they scored cctv footage of the yard looking for misdemeanors all week


the company on a whole is looking to streamline and rather than lay offs are going for the jugular with the sackings it seems

Not looking too good TBH m8 Looks like they're looking for scapegoats to sack so they don't have to pay any redundancies etc.
Something similar happened in our place 2 years ago. New management came in and decided the unions had too much say in the workplace and decided to do us in.

They blatently set a couple of stewards up and sacked them. Bottom line was the management looked a right shower of ****s at the tribunal.
The lads won their case but management won the day because they don't have to give you your job back. and the payout was only about 6 months pay.

Sorry to hear about that m8. But it sounds like someone grassed you up as how would they no that you was taking extra rubbish from these shops and taking money or goods for doing this.
Same with the guy that clocked his m8 out, how would they no unless someone said something?
It looks like someone stitched you up good and proper.

thats exactly what it is m8 we have new management too out to make a name for themselves thing is the old management used to turn a blind eye in fact there is people in the office at work who i have done them for,a year back someone got reported the old manager said dont do it again its a different beast this time though

thing is apart from our new manager every person knows it goes on and every bin man at our place has "his customers" just me and me mukka fiest to get caught and it looks like there is going to be an example made of us just my luck

If you are wondering what goes on in these peoples minds I'll give you an idea;
When I was working for a firm in Lincolnshire I was sitting at a table with the owner and my supervisor. They were discussing an Irishman who was doing home jobs during the night using the firms workshop. The superervisor said 'do you want me to fire him?' The owner said' No! make it that awkward for him so that he leaves of his own accord. That way he won't get dole money'.
That night I changed from a middle of the road supporter to as near a communist as you will get.

i know what happened tbh m8 they showed me the letter they recieved what happened was a rep went in from a rival firm trying to nick our firms business so the shopkeeper when asked said she wouldnt switch cos of the extra help she got from her special bin men would never go anywhwere else so the rep must have been pi55ed and reprted us my firm lookin for a way to get rid gobbled the chance and got a private dick anyway the rest is history

what do they say about loose lips again she probably was just having a laff but its ~~~~in cost me now
