android tv box

Hi guys, didn't know which section to stick this question in, so here it is.

I recently bought an android tv box off of fleabay and it seems to be running quite slow. I have heard that it is possible to run linux on it - could anybody point me in the direction of how to go about this.

Any help is gratefullly accepted.

some can run patched images but others cant,no mention of name.
