today is the panagia ( all holy) or panaghia in greece, its supposed to be the day the virgin mary died. so they have lots of lambs 
roasting on spits on nearly every corner, and lots of drink as well. they do a dish called old goat in the oven, or sometimes old she goat in the oven. this is about the biggest thing here apart from easter, and it goes on for a few days big outdoor markets etc. in comparison they have the same holiday in russia but they spend the day mourning, so depends on how you look at it. for me i go with the big eats an a pi55 up every time!
