VM Broadband Bill keeps going up wheres the cheaper option

My broadband bill has gone up in the last six months from ?18 per month to ?28 per month and now want to increase yet again they have increased my broadband speed from 60mb to 100mb and say it is to cover their costs yet I never asked for them to increase my speed.
We have 3 laptops in the house 2 can only cope with 20mb speed the latest laptop can cope with 55mb this is all due to the wireless cards in the laptops.

the only way I can get anywhere near the 100mb broadband speed is by hard wire Ethernet cable.


my giga quad coped well with with the lower speed so looking for a cheaper option.


any chance of listing you internet provider speed and what you pay plus is the service any good. thanks.

Ntl say there the ONLY FIBER OPTIC COMPANY.. The rest are cable!

So if you ring bt verify that.

Phone them up and say you cant afford the bill and want to leave as there is better deals out there. see what they offer you they DONT want you to leave mate. I pay ?38 for unlimited phone 50mg BB and L tv which never gets used .

I'll keep it simple RING them up tell them it is to expensive and for that reason you are considering changing supplier (I hope your outside of your fixed contract period)
I'm sure they will try to keep your custom, If the first person you speak to doesn't agree ring again (sometime you get a dopey idiot)

Thanks for that been onto them five times to get my daughters laptop connected and 10 mins later comes up with limited access again just cannot get used to win8 all other laptops are win7 and all fine. going to use that as a leaver and cancel with them to see if I can wangle a better deal.

NTL isn't the only fibre optic company at all.. this is pure lies..

Because BT offer fibre through their network.

NTL is fibre to cabinet as is BT. The final leg is connected via copper cable!

just spent 20 mins on hold to be told the department I need to cancel my contract is closed please call back tomorrow .
so I have sent an email chancing my arm telling them its too expensive etc . and to cancel, will call tomorrow as well see what happens, knowing my luck they will cut me off and I will end up with no internet.

I am in the same boat as you Mr Thread Starter. The packages from talk talk, BT, etc look good.. ?5 emblazoned before your eyes.. But then you HAVE to have a phone line @ ?17 or whatever, and then extra for the fibre bit, it starts to look reasonable the ?28 that vermin charge if like me you only want BB, not telly, telephone etc.
I am tempted to get one of the BT gang in, just so I can cancel Vermin and start again in a years time. Loyalty never pays to these pack of wolves. New customers are treated better than me say.. I have been loyal for 20 years or more.
