Holiday Ripoff.

Ive come to the conclusion this weekend that hols abroad are a total ripoff if you have teenagers in the family.

Been pricing up hols for next year but because me daughter is 14 she is now apparently classed as an adult....... what a complete load of sh1te that is.
All the brochures weve looked at the cut off point for children is just 12 years old.
If thats not wrong then I dont know what is.

Can't do it though, not been away this year as a family and both me kids are growing up, so it might be the last time we all get away next year.

14 is classed as an adult m8 .. has been for years . l just went to lanzagrotty the wife me and my m8 and his wife and kids stayed at home wooooooweeeeeee saved me a loads of money

l have one 18 and the other 15(went to her nans) , l would of paid well over 3000 for a week all inclusive at this hotel .. this time 1200 and l spent 100 euros , thats all , if they where there it would of been more like 700 as they always want something

we'd end up eatin out all the time and what with the euro being crap at the mo it'd be expensive too.

pumps i book flights and accom separate now - on the net and find it cheaper. i book flights with globespan and accomm with travel republic - give it a go.

Weve decided today that hols abroad as a family are a thing of the past....we can't justify spending ??????? for 2 weeks out of 52.
For the price of a good holiday abroad for us we can have week in Devon, a long weekend in london and the Lakes and have a new bathroom suite.

Bloody hell m8 is that in a caravan and a dolls house bathroom suite ? I've always found it cheaper to go abroad than stay in UK . Spends included

Lower your sights m8 ?5000 for a holiday is OTT unles theres about 20 in your famly

gotta agree with bulldog - you can get something much cheaper. one of my friends has 3 kids - now and 18yr old and 11 yr old twins. they have been a holiday (including 3 to florida) every single year since the twins were born and its not cost them anything near the amount you stated. have you tried booking separately. price a one bedroomed flat that obviously sleeps 4 and flights from a cheap airline like globespan, easyjet etc

Thought you were on about America next year?
I would do as Lainie says book separate. You should expect about the ?300 - ?350 mark per person for the flight. kids as well (any savings is a bonus).
Accommodation is cheap for high quality digs over there. I can't comment on Florida as I have never been, but I would imagine it is the same, if not even better than the states I have been, seeing as it is holiday orientated.
I personally usually get digs as I go along, the first day or two booked in advance mind. If your not confident about paying as you go, book in advance, hotel.com, otel.com, hotels.com. Theres 3 sites. just type hotel in google, you'll get a few sites more.
I almost always get a hire car from, and back to, the airport. If you travel from one state to another, on the main highway, turn into the next service station after state change. I have found they have a tourist info with a list of hotels and discount tickets on these... even if the tourist booth is closed, these flyers are in a box outside, with all the discount tokens for the state you have just entered.
Food... food is cheap anyway. A lot cheaper than Devon. I love the Taco bel, and del taco for quick snacks. and a bargain bucket over there feeds a proper family.
