    Beware Main Dealer Rip Off

    Hi Guy's and Gal's,

Beware of the Main Dealer Rip Off.

My partner heard a knocking noise coming from the front of her Vauxhall Corsa. I listened to the noise which was heard when the steering wheel was turned. I thought it could be a problem with the steering rack so told her we should book it in with the Vauxhall main dealer Pentagon in Nottingham to find out what the noise was. Pentagon had the vehicle for one and a half hours. The vehicle has 17,000 miles on the clock and is three and a half years old. Pentagon told us that the anti-roll bar bushes are worn, the outer cv boot is split, the brake disc's are 80% worn and excessively lipped and the steering rack is worn and needs replacing. Total price to put it right ₤947.19 pence. Hmmmmm! I have been an engineer for 32 years and until 2000 maintained my own vehicles. I looked at the brake disc's they didn't appear to be excessively worn, just 17,000 miles worth of wear. I took the vehicle to an independent garage who checked the vehicle over. The anti-roll bar bushes were worn, the cv boot was split, the steering rack had nothing wrong at all and the break disc's had only 17,000 miles worth of wear on em'. Pentagon were going to charge us ₤725.95 pence for work that was not required. Peoples watch out for these robbing' Ba-st--ds don't take their word for work that needs doing on your vehicle, infact.....don't use them at all.

    How right you are m8.
Ive recently purchased a 2005 Volvo V50 diesel with 66,000 mile, 1 owner and full service history. The last service is recorded at 50,112 miles.
Phoned Volvo to arrange a full service and MOT and they quoted ?1,333!
Reason being "we have to check the entire car because it requires a MOT." I told them where to go!!!

Took the car to my local garage which I have used before, and they done a full service using original volvo parts for ?159.00 and ?30.00 for the MOT.

Main dealers ARE a rip off!
SLOWLY, OUR FREEDOM IS BEING ERASED.
SOON, WE WILL JUST BE A NUMBER.
IF WE DON'T FOLLOW, WE WILL BE ERASED.

anti roll bar bushes are normally only a few quid the last few i bought for previous cars were no more than 20 euro a set

the only reason to go to a main dealer is to get your service book stamped so you can keep your warranty.

even if you haven't had it serviced, you can usually find someoone at the dealer who will stamp your book for you for a ?20 "administration" fee.
