har har.. good post... i used to wear em.. down the pit.
I used to work mainly in the shafts, and the upcast shaft with wind blowing upwards, used to put dust and rust from pipes and stuff we were removing upwards into our eyes.
Goggles got steamed up too quick.. we worked hard them days, but looking like a bank robber cured the red eyes and steamed goggles.
I personally used my pub landladies stockings... but not her fishnets. -
Wine
just to add to this... I thought was funny.. I gave our lass a lift home from work today. One of her older colleagues wanted a lift... our lass said 'do you need owt from town'...
'yeah, need some tights'
this colleague never questioned it... in fact was quite silent... and she won't know they are actually for my wine bucket until Monday, when or if she quizzes my missus.Comment

gotta hold me hands up to this 1, many years ago when i was a teen
me mam musta not done my ironing, this weekend, so... only trousers i had that saturday night to go out (tiffanys) ffs were real jaggy,itchy on the legs (TWEED) so borrowed a pair of me mams tights to wear under them, 
had to go the loo n take them OFF in tiffs........

never mind men - i dont even wear them. think the last pair i had on was on my wedding day - 20 yrs ago. heard a few funny stories from guys trying to get them off wimmen right enough .

Never needed to take em off, just poked an hole in em!!, (to pee through) i admit i wore them when i worked on a steel yard forklift and crane, flippin cold in winter
