Theres nothing wrong with discussing anything.

the line is drawn when theres action, a discussion on materials to manufacture explosives for instance is perfectly fine A few road flares here, a couple of lb of Ammonium Nitrate fertilizer there and some diesel fuel for good measure.

The line is drawn when im willfully talking someone through the setup of the ingredients and move on to container design to allow the biggest most lethal explosion, with links to easily obtainable legal materials.

The same is true of cable discussion, talking about software and equipment to circumvent copyright protection and encryption is all well and good, but it rarely stops there. if i was to post links to or upload said software and post methods of how to get around the protection then in the eyes of the authorities im no different than some mujihadeen discussing IED's

So the problem isnt really the discussion, its what participants are doing with the informaton and what exactly they post.

The simple fact is if someone uplods or links to something illegal then its up to the sites admin to make sure that its deleted before it can become some kind of threat.
That takes a lot of vigilant moderation and on a site this size becomes impossable to maintain.
Hence the reason discussions are closed untill a soloution can be found that keeps the site operating and people out of the clink.

@ Chroma, I'd hardly compare the making of a bomb the same as hacking Pay Television.

@ Pug, it's all here if you could be bothered looking, sometimes u just need to read between the lines.

I think you'll find that DK is one of the more relaxed websites which offers a shit load MORE info on this subject than many many others.

I dunno so much, i mean look at the way the law is headed nowadays, blow up stuff and get a slap on the wrist, download copywrited material and get fined close to $2,000,000 which equates to 250,000hrs or 6944.44 weeks or 133.54 years on the average american wage to pay off. Thats of course if you dont happen to want to eat or pay any other bills.
The best of this is that the damages awarded are not considered "Punitive" that is theyre not supposed to bring in an element of punishment to the defendant.
Should punative damages be awarded then the figure jumps from a mere 2million to well over that figure.

At worst if you blow up a school you get to face the prospect of life in prison, which lets face it isnt as bad when you consider at least in jail you can afford the luxury of not dying from starvation, because at least there you get 3 square meals a day.

The punishment in this case does not always equate to the crime, looks at the recent headlines, a paedophile gets to serve a year in jail whilst the guy who supposidly vlew up a plane and sent it down over lockerbie gets to fly his ass home to thousands of smiling Lybians.

Free speech... is an illusion @pug. We may not be a big brother stage yet... but most things you do or say are logged some where every day... It could be just a cctv camera watching drive along... Withdrawing money from the mini - bank ect ect ect... If reporters can hac into mobile phone signals to get a story imagine what the government can do... Most calls are monitored for key words or phrases. The internet is monitored ect... To us this is a hobby... Do you think that the companies that invest big money in sat and cable are happy about forums like this one, of course not... These forums will be watched, We all know this... Digital kaos is a great site... Why give these people the ammunition they need to cause problems!!! Everything you need is there as @witchy says, all you have to do is look and read.

Ps. I noticed there seems to be a lack of thanks in your post.... Nuff said.

              Regards @manx

I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I do not know the answer.

HOW DARE YOU! Pumpy is a captain of industry!
An esteemed gentleman of the freeworld, a towering intelect and rich capitalist whom stands resplendant in his top hat and morning coat.

The mere thought of him being thought of as a luddite is enough to make him pop his monocle and drop his fois gras and cress sandwitch (crusts removed previously by his manservant "Argyll") the entire prospect is preposterous!

Without men like him the free market would collapse from lack of widget factories producing only the finest widgets in the world!
