    National Lottery

Doe anyone still play the National/Euromillions Lottery?
WOW ?2.50 per line & the odd of hitting the jackpot are 1 in over 45,000,000.
The line numbers & stars have also been increased, making hitting the jackpot even more difficult.
I think that is a total rip off.
Looks like the only people who win the jackpot every time is CameLot.
SLOWLY, OUR FREEDOM IS BEING ERASED.
SOON, WE WILL JUST BE A NUMBER.
IF WE DON'T FOLLOW, WE WILL BE ERASED.

Lotteries are just another tax for the poor, in the hopes they win.

        It's a mugs game.

what price a dream heh,?2.50 a pop now, without that dream what is the best you can hope for
monday morning, wake up to the alarm, shit, shower, shave, piece of toast then on with the daily grind, work, lunch, work, home, dinner, eastenders, anoth er round of the three s'es then into your pit, rest of the week just rinse and repeat
weekend comes and the games change for the brief respite until sunday night and back to the grind
if ?2.50 a time gives me chance to buck that system then where is the harm,if i thought all i had to look forward to was the alternative then i may as well stick my head in the oven

Our surroundings give the impression that we are better off than the previous generation but when you delve into everything the existence of the ordinary "working man" is in reverse back to pre Victorian standards and are nothing short of cheap labour for the upper classes.

Camelot owned by, from memory, a Canadian teachers union, you'd have thought they'd know better. Yes becoming such a rip off that they will lose money, serves 'em right the greedy basseds.

good point meaty, with the money camelot take they could wipe out homelessness as quick as the hooses could be built, camelot could have the rent till the hoose is paid for + interest then the rent goes to the council, win win.

Government policy isn't to build enough affordable housing for everyone; if they did that then there would be no shortage, house prices wouldn't go up, so people wouldn't think they had money. It's an illusion, but people like such illusions. So keep houses just unaffordable and in short supply for the huddled masses suits them.

Companies exists for one purpose only to make their owners, be that a sole trader or a bunch of Canadian teachers, money. End of it's all about profit. Have you ever heard of a penniless bookmaker or casino? Doubt you ever will, they make money and keep on altering teh odds to make more, Camelot do the same.

                        http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/n...sion-fund.html

National Lottery operator Camelot is to be sold to a pension fund which looks after the interests of 289,000 Canadian teachers.

The sale to the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (Teachers'), for approximately ?389m, will need the approval of the National Lottery Commission, Camelot's regulator.

The Commission announced the start of its assessment process, which could take up to three months, immediately after Camelot broke news of the sale last night.

Dianne Thompson, Camelot chief executive, said: "We welcome Teachers' commitment to The National Lottery's ongoing success, and look forward to the opportunity of working with them to continue our progress in developing the business and delivering even more money for the good causes."

The pension fund, which has offices in London, Toronto, and New York, is an independent organisation responsible for investing the fund and administering the pensions of 289,000 active and retired teachers in Ontario.

Teachers' said it has a successful history of direct investments in UK companies, including Acorn Care and Education, Bristol International Airport, Birmingham Airport, Scotia Gas Networks, InterGen and Thomas More Square Estate.

It owns around 26.7pc of Northumbrian Water.
In a statement released last night, Camelot said it had been informed by its shareholders - Cadbury Holdings, De La Rue Holdings, Fujitsu Services, Royal Mail Enterprises and Thales Electronics - that they have agreed to sell their shareholdings to Teachers'.
Camelot's acquisition was made by Teachers' long-term equities division, which is focused on direct investments that have steady cash flow and growth potential.
Lee Sienna, Teachers' vice president of long-term equities, said: "Camelot is a world-class lottery business with substantial opportunities to grow, both domestically and internationally.

For "opportunities" read maximising profit instead.

in the end the national lottery and all the other lotteries that have sprung up is gambling, ( and scratch cards ), nothing good ever comes from gambling ( for the majority of peeps ), i hav the odd flutter now n then but its just a few ?s, gambling can become a big prob for some people, imo theres way to much of it now days.
