They constantly creep the prices up thinking it will go unnoticed by the public.

They know we cant do without it. It pisses me off the fact that 70% of this is TAX and not due to the oil company setting prices.

Screw the goverment i say because they know where to screw us.
Fill theyre own pockets on the things we know we cant do without.

Heres a small graph showing exactly what we pay.
Look at how much per litre is taxed. How come the UK is in financial turmoil when we pay this in taxes alone.

what annoys me is that diesel is a fuel/heating oil and takes much less refining than petrol to get the end product...25 years ago, diesel was 60% cheaper than petrol, thats why delivery vehicles use it...but once cars started being available to loweer the cost of motoring, they hiked the prices up ..they being the oil companies and the taxman....its just profiteering

thats what boild my pi$$, as bladeyboy has just stated one time diesel used to be the cheaper fuel, now the government accept its cleaner fuel than petrol so why not bring the price down as an incentive for people to buy diesel cars

this country is all to f*~k and it aint gunna change anytime soon

not oil companies, but the government - everywhere else diesel is cheaper

Its basic economics though, supply runs out, prices rise.....thats not to mention the fact that its a huge contributor to greenhouse gases. At the moment it doesn't begin to cover the cost that the release of there gases is having to this planet.....not the place for this debate but seriously, whats happened to people taking responsibility for their actions

Look here everybodt. This person is a prime example of someone who's been brainwashed by government propaganda. Beware.

I think the government needs to stop so called "green" taxes. The UK is responsible for 2.4% of global CO2 emissions and is ranked 25th in terms of CO2 emissions per capita. ( see CO2 Emissions (most recent) by country)

Of this 2.4%, cars are responsible for 11.5% of the UKs CO2 emissions (see Car CO2, Carbon Dioxide, Emissions Fall Again - VisitCars.co.uk). Which means UK cars are responsible for 0.276% of world CO2 emissions. You can see in this article that the 11.5% has come down from 12.4% since 2000. After a few sums, this means that all the government's "Green" taxes on people who can't afford a brand new car have reduced global emissions by a whopping total of 0.0216%, in other words, damn all. The green agenda is an excuse to tax us all and nothing more.

Theres absoloutly no credible evidence to support carbon emissions contributing to global warming. Funding towards research contrary to the "co2 will kill us all" agenda promptly gets cut.
Any actual data is closed from any kind of independant scrutiny or peer review so no one can draw their own conclusions.
CO2 research isnt a science any longer, its merely propaganda.

Coupled with the fact that the price per barrel has dropped from the 2007 high of $100 a barrel to todays prices of $80 a barrel and its continuing to drop. Yet the cost of UK petrol and diesel has continued to skyrocket? Simply because the powers that be assume people will continue to buy it at any price... The sad fact is they're largely right. By march its going to be over ?1.25 a litre and people will still continue to put up with it.

Don't forget that they want to ramp up the price of beer etc too, in an attempt to cut binge drinking?? Bring on the homebrew!!

Seriously on a technical forum people take clarkson as more serious evidence than 99% of the scientific community? Read the IPCC reports (nobel winners) or lord Sterns report to grasp a little of the economics involved
