Which one did you get? I just a Kindle and I love it! I've been able to find plenty of books on the various torrent sites.

Project Gutenberg is decent for any public domain books.
Books available in a number of formats.

Googling the books isbn10.rar usualy gives some results (although not for an english translation of the larousse gastronomique however)

Other than that i just hunt through torrent sites and newsgroups. newsgroups tend to throw up a lot of german books though.

Some books have not been scanned thogh so geting hold of them is neigh on impossable.

I assume you mean latest / popular books? As mentioned above, there are plenty of torrents / nzb's with 1000's of eBooks on them. At the moment though, they are geared towards the iPad / Apple formatwise. It is easy enough to convert them to mobi using freeware, although I do find issue with the margin's on many books. They are still readable though. Hopefully in the not too distant future we'll see batch loads of mobi/mobipocket available for immediate download. The scene isn't really burgeoning enough to support nich? books though or any old book. I.e., if you have something in mind you wan't to read (which most readers do) you generally must purchase a copy. You may get lucky on some but the majority of the 1000's of books currently available on those sites are not taste specific.

And as above, Gutenberg is a great source for out of copyright material. Some great classics there if they tickle your fancy. You can also get free eBooks on Amazon and other sites run promotion from time to time.
