You might be tempted by Alpha Antivirus, but don't touch it!
It screws up all your system settings and stops you accessing any net page but your home page and blocks access to your e-mail account.
I installed it and, because of the problems, asked Microsoft to run a remote diagnostic on my system. A number of issues were raised which Microsoft are looking into.
    Keep dreamin'

        Nod32 for me

        THE TRUTH
        The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

I have to say that I've tried quite a lot and will agree that Avast has been the best so far. I am at the moment trying out Eset smart security 4 as I got it as a freebie from work and that is quite impressive as well.

Xant, on 15th Feb. I thanked you for your avast post as I was looking for protection as well. I downloaded the free trial and judging by the number of blockings by avast since then I am wondering if, perhaps, all of these warning are preprogrammed into the trial to impress?

I use the free AVG (8.5??)

Will have to look into some of these suggested.
