I just got my tooth pulled earlier today and its just now starting to hurt. Last time I had one pulled I think I got dry socket and the pain was so bad I couldnt sleep and had to swish with cold water every 15 seconds to eliminate the pain so I missed work. Does anyone know a pain remedy? Opiate based pain relievers didn't really work. I can't afford to miss another day of work.

Noooooooooooooooooo. Clove oil will work on a sore tooth. This pain is coming from an extraction socket. Different problem entirely! Clove oil will irritate the socket and prevent healing. He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

Place your hand on a hard surface and whack it with a hammer - hurts like hell but guaranteed to take your mind off the gum ache.
Seriously though, I find Co-Codomol tablets to be very effective with pain that Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Aspirin have trouble subduing.
Could also try Bonjela (adult)

Remember that over the counter co-codomol is 5mg codine phosphate & 500mg paracetamol. To be really effective you need 30mg codine phosphate. But these are only available on prescription.Seriously though, I find Co-Codomol tablets to be very effective with pain that Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Aspirin have trouble subduing.Canker

The trick is realising that paracetamol isnt very water soluable, where as codine is...
At room temperature (30c) it takes 70ml to fully dissolve a gram of paracetamol.
It takes just 3ml to dissolve a gram of codine
Lowering the temperature to 20c and the dissoloution works out at roughly half a gram of paracetamol per 70ml whilst codine does the opposite and rockets up to 3.5g to the same 3ml of water.
Water at 5c (fridge temperature) dissolves a trace ammount of paracetamol in a 500ml pint glass, but will dissolve next to all the codine
Its just a matter of crushing your tablets between some teaspoons and adding them in to the water, 20 tablets (5/500 mix) will give you roughly 100mg of codine / 100mg paracetamol soloution with powder on the bottom, just toss this through a coffee filter into a new clean pint glass to remove all the calcium phosphate/ methylcellulose / undisolved paracetamol.
I add some crushed pro plus to the mix at this point, caffine boosts the synergy and aids uptake and adds some powder for a refilter (again the caffine dissolves in the codine soloution and the other junk sinks to the bottom ready for another filter) you probably want to avoid this if your caffine sensitive.
I wind up eventualy with 100mg codine / 75mg paracetamol / 50~100mg caffine soloution suspended in a pint glass.
The wierd thing is you can still feel the pain after drinking it but completely and entirely lose the ability to care about it.
It also tastes really REALLY bad, but medicine is supposed to isnt it?
Note: anything over 800mg of codine is very bad, or over 5000mg paracetamol (600 / 4000 if your sensitive to the ingredients) so your going to want to lowball your dosages till you've got it worked out
I only know all this because i had an abcess that hurt like i never thought possable and began experimenting, with the rationale of "if i wound up dead then atleast i would be pain free."
I sourced most of my info from drug sites and chemistry textbooks a number of years ago and ive only really done it a handful of times, it gets you too out your face to do anything useful but it does kill pain.
So yeah dont drive or try to operate anything more complicated than a tv remote.
It also bungs you up badly, like shitting concrete
not to mention it makes you itch like mad when its wearing off and its highly HIGHLY addictive.
That and the fact that if you somehow manage to mess up the preperation by doing something stupid like using boiling water instead of freezing you'll wind up getting a dose of 10g of paracetamol, twice the lethal dose.
Its not exactly something you should be doing on a regular basis, but if the pains that bad and nothing the chemist gives you will shift it, it mght be worth the risk.

The tablets I have are prescription ones.
Didn't realise my small suggestion would spark such an interesting response. I think I will stick to just taking the tablets with a glass of water for fear of overdosing myself.
Can't wait for the step by step meth lab though been looking for a second source of income.Comment
