Hard luck mate, have you considered re-training, I went to college when I was unemployed and retrained to be a spark, never looked back, it may be different in Canada but over here they pay for your tuition, and even if you find a job quickly as long as you are registered at college they pay for the full year. good luck whatever you decide...chuckLast edited by chucklor; 25 August, 2010, 10:28.Comment

On the bright side though you get to look out your window and see British Columbia!
Id do a quick retraining course in something that not only interests you but is also marketable, or wind up working for walmart/canadian tyre/home depot.
Hope you get some work your way soon.He who laughs last thinks slowest.Comment

sorry to hear you have been laid off. My hubby has been laid off twice in the past 3 years too.
You have to get out there and hunt for jobs Every day!! Try and keep a positive attitude. I know it's hard when you send out 20 c.vs and don'e even get a reply but if you keep trying then someone will hire you.
I don't know how bad it is in your state but here things are pretty grim. Some employers advertise jobs in the job centre for one day only because they know they will get too many applicants to process otherwise.
So look for jobs every day. hand out c.v's to any local firms which may be looking for employees with your qualifications and keep a postiive attitude. If you keep at it you will find a job, it will just take a bit of time.
If you think retraining will help then go for it!!
