Bars in Edinburgh???

Hi folks,

I'm staying near Portobello high street and I'm looking for a decent place to have a few beers, lively, decent music, etc.

Any suggestions please? Or best to just get a taxi into the city centre?

Rileys Sports Bar. Meadowbank Edinburgh Mate. Bout 1 1/5 mile in the Taxi.

Its a Snooker and pool hall. Also Does all Live sports and you can get something to eat there.

Im a member of the snooker there. Waitress service etc. Quality Place. Most boozers in portobello themselves a bit like your usual locals.

Forgot to mention its lively on a Thursday Fri and Sat night as everyone goes there as its pretty cheap beers

If your after a proper night out though mate your better of going into town centre. Rose Street behind princess street is heaving with boozers all lively.

Head into the City Centre Devilfish m8. Some great pubs with plenty of atmosphere.

As cgscott says Rose street is the place to be.

Thanks for the tips folks. We ended up going to an Indian restaurant, had a stote about then back to the hotel bar for a few beverages.

I'll no doubt be back in tha area over the next coming months so will check out some of those places above.
