    well pizzed off!!

To say i'm pi$$ed off is a under statement today.

As some of you may know I split up with my wife a few month ago and that I work away from home for 4/5 weeks at a time.

Anyway I was doing my 300 mile trek home to the north east to see my kids, had covered 240 miles and was on the A19 when a police car pulls infront me and puts "follow me" on his board, so i followed him and pulled over off the carraigeway.

He says the reason I've pulled you over is that the ANPR (automatic number plate recognition system) has flagged your car up as having no insurance, I replied with bollox it has, its insured with morethan in the ex's name and i'm named driver on it.... I was going to change it to my name when it was due for renewal in january but as i was giving her money each month still and she never told me she wanted it cancelled i presumed i was still covered.

Anyways he makes a few phone calls and it defo wasn't insured, first i knew, so he seized my car, give me a ?200 fine and 6 penalty points ( I've had a clean licence for 10 years)..... So he rang recovery who come and collected my car, then took me to north allerton where i managed to find a swinton and get insured, I took the cover note to the police station who confirmed i was now insured, then had to pay a tenner in a taxi to the recovery place who i then had to pay ?150 to get my car back.

So as any normal person would I rang the ex and went ballistic down the phone for not telling me that my insurance was cancelled.... she swears she didn't know, but as shes one of these that doesn't open letters (sticks them all in the airing cupboard)...

So my little bit of advice for people is if they split up change all your details straight away no matter how good the relationship still was as me and her we getting along good, but thats gone a tad sour now i'm ?350 lighter and 6 points on my licence.

    Been there done that

On the bright side as of november my license will be a clean slate again.

Divorce sucks ass. Plain and simple. You get to see the worst out of your partner and wonder why you never noticed how completely and utterly sociopathic they where to begin with, i still wonder to this day who bodysnatched my ex wife.
He who laughs last thinks slowest.

      .
There is a confirmed rumor going around the UK that CLEARLY states
an insurance company CANNOT BY LAW cut your insuranse off, they
HAVE TO BY LAW, give you a recorded delivery letter, wait 7 days THEN cut you off.

apparantly it got cancelled on the 27th may according to the copper and he said a letter would have been sent as they just dont cancel with notifying you, but as stated she doesn't open letters and just throws them in the cupboard.

In a wierd sort of way i'm pleased i got pulled as i wouldn't have been any of the wiser and if i had a crash i would have been well and truely shafted.

          OFF TOPIC:

MANY MANY years ago, somebody somewhere had an argument
with somebody about something, no idea what, why or where.

The person in question, send two recorded delivery letters - one to them self and one to the other person.

blah, blah, argument, argument etc etc

In court person said "Sent them a letter, blah blah blah"
anyway jist of it is, the person number 1, hands the judge the SEALED
letter that was addressed to them selves as they knew what was in it.

The judge opended said sealed letter and read it - for whatever reason, agreed yes this letter WAS sent on xx date, therefore you win, other person insert coin.

          ON TOPIC:

Properbly to late, but does that mean you can give the unopened letters to the fuzz and ask for your money back?

no hun they were sitting in a layby on the A19 and the cameras ontop of the car flagged it up as having no insurance as i passed.

When i was in his car the camera was going crazy for cars to pull but he couldn't as he had me in

Well I am pretty damn sure that if it were me I would not be taking it. I reckon that you have a good defense with those circumstances and it's always fun going to court and slapping the police down a peg anyway no mater what it costs.

you should have went to court, if you can prove you were giving her money to pay the insurance, you would have been spared the points not the fine
