    planning laws

just wondered if anybody on the forum has any knowledge on planning laws etc
basically i own a field on greenbelt land next to a motorway
over the years i have tried unsuccessfully to get some kind of planning permission for a dwelling
i have some total arse++le neighbours who have opposed anything i have ever tried to do,,,but im an optimist who never gives up so now after 15 unsuccessfull years im thinking of digging a lake on the field and sticking a boat in the middle of it and getting some tennants,,,basically a houseboat
what could the council do if anything,,if i done the above
any sensible replies would be more than welcome along with any humorous ones
just to reiterate this is a serious post

You can by law build a grass airstrip on your land, the only problem is you as the owner can only use it once every 28 days, you dont need any planning permission as long as you do not take off/land more than once a month you are not breaking any laws, but that does not stop visitors landing on your strip so stick up a wind sock, that would really piss the idiot off, and you could have a static van on it selling grub so you could make a few quit aswell and when you dont want any visitors simply lower the wind sock..

a few years ago in Meat-City scrap man had two fields one FULL of cars one empty.

Council said - you need a license - we are going to evict - few days before they kick him off his own field he put all the cars in the other field and they had to start again - then did it back to 1st field.

seem to think something about a caravan and living - not sure.

Maybe your neighbours have plans for their lands (garage/cafe/industrial) and by letting you put a house on yours might deem the area to be residential.
Don`t know...just peeing in the wind with an idea.

On the subject of Meat-Heads post (above) knew people who parked mobile home on the side of the road and when told to move by the authorities- they got out, pushed the mobile home ten feet and got back in again. Jobs oxo.

airstrip sounds a good idea/wind sock
thought about the burgervan aswell,,,,but the lake seems the best one i have thought of for a long time,,,the neighbours are at least 100metres away across another field next door to mine,,,fields are divided by a big hedge,,,,but they still oppose anything i try and do
also thought about pigs and goats and any other smelly creature to put on there

                THE TRUTH
                The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

wait until the height of summer.
get the field sprayed with fertilizer, then ~~~~ off on holiday for a few weeks until the smell settles...

some good ideas lads and ladies
spreading slurry all over it at the height of summer sounds like fun,,espescially if i go away like you say and let it settle in to get nice and smelly and hopefully it will drift right over them
after 15 years of grief im not too bothered about what i do on there as building a dwelling seems like a definite no no

It's best to just concentrate on the grounds of their objection. Once that is overcome they can't do anything. For example if they object on the grounds of bad access and you put the access road in a different location, all other things not being objected to then you will get the permission.

Apply with a known objection point that you can fix then fix it after it has been refused.

Dont want to piss on your fire, but you will have bought the land as 'Agricultural?' and now you wanna put dwellings up?
This is not a personal dig at you, but whats to stop every property developer buying green land then expecting to be able to bang houses up where they want?

On the Lake thing, there was a grand designs prog on a couple down kent way, they built a boat, or should I say an eyesore, and it was exempt from building regs, planning regs. Altho the struggled to get someone to take it in their marina due to the strangness of it.
You on the other hand would have no problem with that, as its yours.. Well is the water yours? Not sure how the rulings are on that issue with water authorities.
                          Another kettle of fish....
