I was in sharm el sheik at the back end of october, it's true it is very hot nearly 40 deg most days. We asked the locals if it had rained recently and they told us they had two hours of rain back in 2009. The mountain back drop is very nice. A lot of the resorts are way out unless you get acutally into narma bay as described above. We weren't in narma bay but a little out but there where plenty of bars and shopping malls to walk to. The old town in narma is reported to be where you will get hassle a lot. Other than that set your stall out that you will be hassled but nothing much, talk to the people and dont just shun them. Tell them you will come back later or there is nothing you want at the moment. Learn a few words of arabic as we did, "please, thank you and no thank you". The locals loved it when the young one would answer them " ana ism" "childs name". Oh and be prepared for lots of russians depending on what complex your in.

Off there too myself on Jan 21st. Never been before but the missus has been half a dozen times on diving trips. Glad to know there will be plenty of options out there for the football as Im missing out 2nd leg of the league cup semi for this holiday and I need to see us (hopefully) get to Wembley!!

Egypt must be nice but i would never go to a Muslim country. Even thou they clean they never use soap and worse they never use deodorant. So in the life sucking heat of Egypt they must really smell second you Brits should know Muslims hate us non Muslims. So have a nice time but be extra careful and bring lots of Lysol

My mother, the 'anker she married & my little brother were in Egypt about 2 years ago. They didn't mention anything about smelly people. But they did have a great time & brought me back some amazing smelling essential oil.
Given the w'nker she married is an inbred racist that thrives on ignorance, if anyone could find something to slag them off...he could. But, as stated, he had a great time. I have some photo's somewhere to prove it.


I hope Dctyper has just as much fun as my mother did & if he wants to bring me back some more essential oil, I'll not complain.

couldnt agree more,why on earth would somebody turn a simple holiday to egypt thread into smelly muslims and terrorists thread ?

i have been to egypt amomgst many other far flung reaches in the world,,lovely country,lovely people,lovely food,etc etc the list goes on,,i too hope he arrived and is now enjoying egypt as i and my family did
