    Be aware of this scam

    Hi there,
You will receive a post card to phone this number, asking you to call 0141 354 6640 ext. 484 1527
    Registered in Scotland 163682,
    Consumer licence No: 596203
    Registered office: Cheetham & Co,
    Faith Avenue
    Bridge of Weir
    PA11 3SX
Be aware when you received a post card from this very company. They are called ATI or Asset Trace & Investigation, they are a debt recovery agency, and although they will tell you they are definitely not. When you call the above number you go through to an information collecting department, they flatly refuse to disclose any information about themselves and why they are contacting you except to say they have mail for you. They ask you to confirm your name and address, then ask if you want the bundle of letters or parcel sending on to you. They then pass on those contact details to another department (the debt recovery department) who will then chase you for the money that?s outstanding. Very sneaky and devious if you ask me - I believe they work for Sky and e-on to name a few companies including bank dept. If you do owe any money and don't intend or can't pay it back then don?t call the number just chuck the card away and be thankful you got away with it.
Some of the names of there agents below.

It's amazing how much effort is put into scamming people out of their money. Just imagine if those people would use their effort for something positive in this world what could be achieved.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know to ignore that one.

While the company may not be forthcoming with the truth and using underhand practices........

In my book it's hardly a scam. Debt is a debt, if you don't want to pay it then don't get the goods in the first place.

(Yes I know there are many reasons for people finding themselves in this situation, but I think you'll find that an awful lot of people enter credit agreements with little or no intentions of repaying.)

Bit of a negative outlook there witchy. What's more likely is that people take out loans, mortages & credit cards without looking at the future.

In recent years the base rate has been at record lows, so people were able to get bigger homes for the monthly payments they could afford. But rates then stated to climb way above the base rate, now these same people can no longer afford to pay their debts....so default. It's not that they entered agreements knowing they would default, more a case of greed & stupidity...which we are all a victim of now and again. Noone can read the future with impunity.

not many people that get into debt do so intentionally. i dont think it gives companies licence to be dishonnest just to retrieve monies. i dont ever buy anything on the never-never but if people are pushed to buy companies sh1te when they cant afford it ~~~~ them if they cant get their money. stop pushing their rubbish on ppl that cant afford it. sry bit boozed

Had a few of these debt collectors at the door looking for a neighbour. They mentioned her name and asked if I knew her and whether she still stayed there. One of them even showed me their id stating which debt collecting agency they worked with. I sent the bastards packing, telling them exactly what I thought of their tactics. Lucky I had the kids with me or some of them might have ended up with a sore face. ~~~~ing parasites, get a real job that doesn't prey on (mostly) people down on their luck.

From time to time, I get a fela knocking my door who tells me that I need a license for my telly. He comes with forms ready to set up a direct debit to pay for this license. Basically his victims are expected to pay him money and then carry on as normal. I'm not falling for that one. F**k off you scammy b*st*rd.

I have received two phone calls in the past from debt agencies 'looking' for someone who rented the house next door and had moved on.
How did they get my number ? ... I wasn't addressed by name only by my house number and address.
I explained on both occasions that it wasn't my business or concern but that more than anything else I wasn't happy to be brought into a situation that had nothing to do with me and more so I am not a grass.

How could they get info on me but not the guy they're after ?

These people need to get jobs that help those in trouble not make it worse for them ...
