Dr. Brooke Magnanti has revealed that she is the famous blogger Belle de Jour, whose blog has been made into a UK TV show starring Billie Piper and two books detailing her exploits.
Dr. Magnanti was a prostitute between 2003 and 2004, and used the money she earned to pay for her studies. The University of Bristol stood by their research scientist, saying her "past is not relevant to her current role at the university."
In a blog post, Magnanti said: "...it became important to acknowledge that aspect of my life and my personality to the world at large. I am a woman. I lived in London. I was a call girl... I stand behind every word with pride."
