    Booze bust

I?m amazed that the Cheshire-based Wine Cellar off-licence group, who own Booze Busters, has gone, ah, bust. Several stores have been taken over but 320 jobs will be lost with no redundo.

If we live in binge Britain, as Cameron and co suggest, how come a cheap offie can?t survive?

It's probably due to supermarkets selling below cost, there?s no way independent shops can compete with that. they?ll kill off the offies, then strangle the suppliers when they?re the only ones to sell to. they been doing it for years now with food retailers, and they?re going after others.

Threshers and Wine Rack have finally gone bust and all stores will close on December 2.
In the meantime they are selling off all stock. Prices are already high ? one of the reasons they went bust ? but there?s up to 25% off booze now, with more savings to come in the next few weeks.
