A BANK robber went into a pub, threw cash in the air and shouted: ?The drinks are on me!?
Christopher Allnut, 42, had told Barclays staff he had a gun.
He was given ?1,600 and walked 40 yards to the Old Gaol House pub in Winchester, dropping ?350 on the way, the city?s Crown Court heard.
Inside he threw the rest of the money in the air, announcing: ?I have just robbed a bank and the drinks are on me.?
He said he went to the Wetherspoon?s pub because poor people often drank there.
He was arrested after lying in the road. Only ?600 was recovered.
Judge Keith Cutler said the rest had gone into ?the grateful arms of those sitting in Wetherspoon?s?.
Allnut, of Southampton, who admitted robbery, was detained indefinitely.
