Meat your limits ... advice is food for thought
BRITS should eat only three rashers of bacon a day to limit their cancer risk, experts warn.
Red or processed meat should be rationed to no more than 500g a week, say Government advisers in a report out today.
That's 70g a day - equal to three rashers of bacon.
An average slice of ham is 23g, a large sausage 40g and a medium steak 145g.
Both red and processed meat contain substances linked to bowel cancer.
The figures are in a report released by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition.
