NUFC club statement, Thursday:

Newcastle United can confirm that manager Joe Kinnear will undergo a triple heart bypass operation tomorrow.

Joe was admitted to hospital on Saturday morning in the Midlands after reporting of feeling unwell at the team's hotel ahead of the game at West Bromwich Albion.

Tests have since confirmed Joe requires surgery, after which he will need to rest for a period of at least eight weeks.

Joe said: "I've really appreciated all the get well messages I've received from people over the last week and I'd like to thank everyone who has been in touch."

Managing Director Derek Llambias said: "I am sure the whole football community will join Newcastle United in wishing Joe a speedy recovery."

It's expected that Chris Hughton will continue to take
charge of first team affairs until further notice. He'll be assisted by newly-appointed coach Colin Calderwood.

Fears that Dennis Wise may have been in line to play a more hands-on role following his sighting at West Brom
on Saturday have been privately allayed.

Think under the circumstances with all the injuries at NUFC Joe has done a good job and a great shame about his illness. I can not see him ever managing NUFC again as with the triple bypass and his age don't think they would give him the job fulltime now, and that's with Joe not signing the contract offered him weeks ago now

Brother -in -Law had a triple bypass 2yrs ago and he's as strong as an ox now .
Get well soon Joe , but give the Newcastle job a miss Mate , a good job so far , but it won't go much further !.
Don't know what's wrong at Newcastle , but every manager who's been there ( and most of them have ! ) , have found themselves flogging a dead horse !

i like joe kinnear and wish him all the best i think he is underated as a manager his last heart problem ended the fairytale of wimbledon fc
