This site here has links to a lot of Linux distros you should find one to suit your purpose there.
If you don't know which one to try then try one of the popular ones as you will get more support as more people use it.

The best are Ubuntu (which I use), Fedora or Mint, and it really is a matter of preference.

They are different in their own ways, but once you have got to grips with Linux you won't go back.

I have a boot menu so I can log into windows if I want as their are some programmes I use which only run on windows.

If your new to linux i would as a few people have said go for Ubuntu.
There are a few versions for different needs eg PC or netbook.
                        Goto : Home | Ubuntu

Next i would recommend Debian (Ubuntu is actually based on debian)
If you start with a netinstall it will install a minimal install and you can then update from the net

Link : Debian -- Network install from a minimal CD

                        Hope that helps

If you want to try several different types of linux, most distributions have livecd version som you can test them without the need to install.
