Would you be looking for something like this.....

    1000mW wi-fi dongle

Change the antenna to something with around a 15dbi to 20dbi gain & you'll be rockin'

There are 2000mW dongles out there somewhere, but Southern Comfort had some issues with the high gain antennas, 9dbi worked best for him.
They also have some issues with windows 7 if what I read previously is correct.

I'm currently running a 1000mW dongle with a 20dbi gain antenna on my netbook. I had 80% connection strength over 100m in a blizzard (tapped a neighbours wi-fi) during the winter. It never dropped out on me. It's that strong I can't run my PC & netbook in the same room, the netbook dongle kills the PC connection.

Any home plugs will do, but at around ?40 or more a pair it's not the cheap option.

1st big problem with homeplugs is extension leads.. most multi-way extension leads have ant-surge protection built in (might not say so on the casing)... this anti-surge protection filters the mains voltage and stops the homeplug signal from passing through... so you gotta make sure there are no multi-extension leads (at-least none with anti-surge)between either homeplug.

2nd fridges/freezers and other inductive appliances spew out lots of noise onto the mains when they switch on/off constantly which can mess with your signal big-time.
