    Networking advice

Hi folks, I need some advice regarding my network... I was able to access my computer through my smart tv via DLNA before I added a Ethernet switch and I can see the desktop or laptop on the network.. (See attachement)

Is there anything setting I would need to change? the current setup is..

Virmin router > wireless router > Powerline adaptor > Powerline adaptor2 > ethernet switch which is then connected to tv and ps3..

previously tv was connected directly after Powerline adaptor2 and it was fine..

    thanks in advance..

The two things that would occur to me to check are
      1. Does you TV have an IP address ?
      2. Does the ethernet switch allow broadcasts ? (What ethernet switch is it, make and model ?)
The reason i say this is because although you can see the TV from the computer setup page the protocol it uses to communicate is different to the one it uses to talk to the internet.
If the answer to both the questions above is no. Your two options are to either make the switch allow broadcasts, because that is the way DHCP IP addresses are issued.
Or reserve a static IP address in the router for the TV and then manually assign that address to the TV.
If however the TV can access the internet but not the PC then i would still be checking the ethernet switch as, if it is a clever enough model then maybe it is filtering the protocols it lets across it i.e. alow http but not others that may be needed by DLNA.

The ethernet switch is Netgear FB105 not sure if it allows broadcasts (im hopeless in networking) and the connections are below:

Port 1 - coming from Comtrend Powerline
        Port 2 - to PS3
        Port 3 - to TV

I can access the internet on the TV no bother, The TV is set to Auto IP address.. please advise..

Ok so i had a quick look on the internet and your FB105 (FS105) doesn't look that intelligent so is possibly not filtering your network traffic. So the thing i would check is what you are using to do your DLNA. What product is it and does it have a setting in it called something like 'hops'. Because hops determine how many network devices data can cross before it is deleted, and if your hops value is very low then by adding your 1 device you might have taken it over the max number of devices you can cross. Seems a long shot, i know but your network doesn't look that complicated. Also does your TV have an option to ping other devices and if it does can you ping your Desktop from your TV. Also if you know how to do it can you ping your TV from your computer.
Another thought comes from here and although it is different products the problem looks similar. Is there a notify interval on your DLNA software and is it set high, and if it is and you make its value lower but not zero and restart the software does it help.
