    3G router recurring costs

Hi all, I've got a 3G router setup to a PC over the LAN that has sharply rose in costs this past three months with unexplained data usage at regular interval all day round! Any Ideas why this could be?

Is it secured and are people randomly sharing your internet and downloading?

      Thanks for quick reply.

It is secure with anti-virus and firewalled for enable only remote desktop.

Any ideas what might be using the data?

Particularly through the night when the PC is still on but not in use by any tasks!

Anti-virus/windows updates/etc or someone has your password.
You need to check to see if another computer accesses your router by putting a program like Network Magic on. This will tell you if someone tries to log on and you can block them.
        But my guess is updates.
Try checking when your computer is set up for them. Some programs check every day!

          Thanks Frank.

I will get onto this to see if the router has been accessed or one of two programs is providing regular updates.

Now that you say, my thoughts are that it could be an updates issue. Although Windows updates are disabled, as you say any other program could be running its own background updates.

I will post with my findings...

          Cheers
