I'm using a netgear router which cost me about ?35 but got it on a deal.
Had no problems with it at all.

              zoom 4501 (GBP 41.57 at amazon ([ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-3G-Wireless-N-Desktop-Router/dp/B002SXMH1C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1275552582&sr =8-1"]Zoom 3G Wireless-N Desktop Router)[/ame]

It is wireless-N so you get long range. But what is great about this is that you can connect a usb 3g modem, and share it.
