    drive f is not formatted

    hi all
my laptop is running on xp and has just started with usb problem.the problem is every time i connect a usb device the pc will recognise it but can't read it,if you double click on it you get the error f drive is not formatted would you like to format it?
all the sd card iv'e tried in phones-camera-multi card readers are all formatted with files on them.if i right click on the drive and select properties it says all the cards are in raw format,iv'e not changed anything in any settings and i'm a bit stumped on what to do next,iv'e deleted the usb drivers and reinstalled them but still no luck any help would be greatly appreciated.

Either the usb drive is capoot or there is a virus within. Ha e you tried the drive on another comp.

if that fails mate go for a clean format and reinstall of windows and then see if the problem is ok, if not I suspect that the usb side of the motherboard chipset could be faulty, but I think you might get lucky with a clean format and reinstall of windows, its worth a go before you move onto more expensive things like replacing this n that. good luck.

I had this problem before and was prompted to format drive f but that if I did so I would lose all on the usb stick.
So I stuck it in one of the usb ports at the back and it worked fine-something to do with working faster through those back ports.
When I tried it again on the front port on computer it worked normally.
This may or may not be your particular problem as I only done it having previously been prompted to use one of the back ports for a different usb stick.
Most times when I use a usb stick Adobe pops up wanting to put an update on drive f.
