Hey guys i have come back to my unused desktop pc which has been sitting for about a year completly disconected (due to my laptop) and have powered it up to format and get rid of but my USB mouse refuses to work. Ok i thought +5V had died from the PSU so tried my usb hard drive (USB powered) works perfect aty full USB 2.0 speed to :S now im confused, so i pluged in a powered USB hub and the mouse into the hub hey presto it works. but then a stupid idea remove the power from my hub will it still work???? YES :S really confused now. so reinstalled windows and still no mouse connected direct but fine through the hub even with no power to it :S!!!!!! please help guys if u have had simalar probs or any ideas to try.

1. Are you using the same port that your plugging the hub into that you tried the usb mouse? If not could be a dodgey port so try the same one.
2. Does your mouse light up at all? But just doesn't work? -
yeah have tried the mouse in all ports 4 on the back and 1 on the front doubled up as multi card reader. i have also tried updating the bios to the latest version with now result at all still finds the mouse as a unknown device. and no it is not lit up at all.Comment
