    Dell E5440 BIOS reset

    Hi guys,

I just bought a Dell E5440 from my company that they had "old" stock of (used by some sales guy, now he has a newer machine). Problem is - it didn't come with a HDD, and the BIOS is locked - and no-one in the company has any idea what password was set.

I know there are master BIOS passwords out there, but I would actually prefer to just hard-reset the BIOS if possible, just so that I can change the boot sequence to allow me to install a HDD and install Windows.

If anyone has any knowledge of how to do this, please let me know - I've already unplugged what I thought was the CMOS Battery for an hour, plugged it back in and the BIOS was unchanged - so much for that idea. I have also thought about just setting the new drive up in my pc, copying the files across and then dumping the drive into the laptop - would this work? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks

      You mean this?

      System number: 63C6633-8FC8
      Service tag: 63C6633
      Express Service Code: 13262535759

I've already tried it on the master password site - I don't get a password in return
