De-frag

Hi I have an old hp compaq laptop with vista basic ,, it has slowed down, so tried to de-frag , but it seem to take for ages & looks like it hangs up, its the same with disk clean , i have tried another programme ccleaner to disk clean & that hangs up at 6%,,, even when i'm in internet, tried to delete browsing history,it goes on forever,
Please can anyone help.

if you use ccleaner as you say it hangs then your browsing history goes on forever that what ccleaner does clears your browsing history as well as looking for redundant files on your hd, you could also us it for scanning the registry for issues which will also slow down your pc.
